Gomito are looking for an experienced designer to work with them on the first stages of development for a new show. Gomito are a visual theatre company making new work through devising so you will work collaboratively with the director, performers and composer to contribute to the story and ideas behind the play as well as its visual style.

The starting point for this show is ‘A BEAUTIFUL DESTRUCTION’; you are likely to be asked to create a variety of temporary environments for the performers to experiment in. We imagine that any set you build will be destroyed in a variety of surprising, comic and visually striking ways. It might be set on fire. Sorry about that.

This first stage of R and D is 3^rd-14^th September. The designer is not expected to be in rehearsal for the whole period, but the 3^rd/4^th will be essential and some pre-preparation will be required. This period of development will result in a short work-in-progress showing with a work-in-progress set.

Further development is planned for 2013 with the final show taking place in Summer/Autumn 2013. It is hoped that you will be able to follow the project through to completion, though it’s not necessary to commit to the full project to work on this stage.
